König Kanaltechnik, based in Wadgassen, is currently carrying out a pioneering rehabilitation project on the sewer network in the town of Blieskastel. On Pfeifferfelder Straße, both the main sewer and numerous service connections are being sustainably repaired using modern techniques.
The focus of the works is on the rehabilitation of a combined sewer (DN 300) and a total of 45 domestic service pipes with nominal diameters ranging from DN 100 to DN 150. The transition areas between the main sewer and the service pipes have been reliably sealed using bell-and-spigot joints.
Holistic approach with innovative technology
The town of Blieskastel is taking a holistic approach to rehabilitation in this project and is deliberately combining tried-and-tested and innovative technologies. Light curing is being used in particular for the service connections.
Of the 45 connection pipes:
• 27 pipes were rehabilitated conventionally from the building towards the main sewer,
• 13 pipes were repaired using the new BRAWO® Remote LC process from the main sewer towards the property.
As a result, it was only necessary to create an access hole for just 5 connection pipes – a significant advantage in terms of effort, costs and disruption to the surrounding area.
In total, around 250 metres of BRAWOLINER® were installed in combination with BRAWO® UVPox.
Advantages of rehabilitation from the main sewer
Waldemar Tschalov, Managing Director of König Kanaltechnik, is convinced of the advantages of the new method:
“When working from the main sewer, we can position the BRAWOLINER® with pinpoint accuracy so that it lies flush against the inside of the main sewer. This is a huge advantage of the BRAWO® Remote LC, as it allows us to avoid time-consuming milling work caused by material protruding into the main sewer. Furthermore, no gap can form between the collar profile and the connection liner – this also significantly reduces additional effort.”
BRAWO® Remote LC – Renovation reimagined
The BRAWO® Remote LC method enables efficient, trenchless renovation directly from the main sewer and offers numerous advantages:
• Renovation from the main sewer (collector) towards the property connection
• Can also be used in non-accessible sewer pipes
• The starting point for the rehabilitation is the junction of the service pipe with the main sewer
• Entirely carried out from the main sewer manhole
• No need to enter private property
• No additional service opening required
• “Remote” rehabilitation with minimal disruption
Efficiency through light curing
Andreas König of König Kanaltechnik also highlights the advantages of the technology used:
“Renovation using light curing makes our work much easier, as the time pressure on site is eliminated compared to the use of heat-curing resins. Our staff can carry out their work without this
